Monday Night - Scene Night

I know it's been forever since my last blog but I've been back and forth from LA and Van so much it's hard to keep track of. It's a really busy pilot season for me-very fun. A lot of great projects in the works....but I'm superstitious so I'm not talking!
On another note, Monday night was amazing for me. I joined my peers at my acting school for class. It's hard because working is really rewarding-You know being on set, all the technical challenges- but for me I get so much inspiration from my acting coach (Nancy Sivac) and having been on the road filming for so long, I have not been able to do classes. She so graciously incited me join class Monday night to warm up, do exercises, voice and just observe the scenes her students are working on. It is the highlight of my year and I can't wait until the day I can work a scene with them again. (Just can't commit to the full month class yet) It's a supportive, safe place to learn and push yourself in. So thanks to everyone from Mondays class for letting me learn from you.....

Too much happens in a day to blog! I ran into Fat Joe at Pinkberry, sat next to Ginger Spice at lunch and Arnold Schwarzenegger cut me off in the Barney's New York parking lot! So much action all the time....so I've decided to just write randomly. Well I guess that what's I've been doing, I just won't worry so much about it!
Ate at my favorite place for the 2nd time in one day.
I sent out my new fan card to everyone who has written me a fan letter. Thanks so much to all of you who write me...I hope you like the card I sent out! And of course, I will keep answering your letters, they mean the world to me.....

Been in LA for a while now. Super hot and sunny. Great for beach and pool side studies! Been busy with auditions and meetings and working on new scripts etc.
My manager took me (with a group of other actors etc) to the LA kings game last week. It was cool to see a game from a VIP box. Really great way to see the game. Growing up on hockey in Canada and seeing most games from the nosebleeds, it was quite a change...
Then I went to the Dodgers- Red sox game at (Dodgers stadium!) It was my first major league game. What an experience! It's so much more interesting seeing it live. I got way more into it because you can see all that's going on. I loved it....

What's up! I wasn't going to blog today until I received the best fan letter! Thanks Cheryl (Snyder) for th wonderful letter! Glad you love Blood Ties so much- I do too, and I miss playing coreen so badly! Anyway, thanks for the vote of confidence on my blogging abilities! I will keep 'em coming!
All of my time is being taken up with auditions, negotiating new projects and working on my fan 'mail out'-the time is just flying by. I did however finally party last Friday with friends (for my birthday) we had a crazy impromptu dance party and ended up staying out all night. It's rare for me because I work so much. But it was so fun...however, no pictures! What the hell! No one had a camera! I will get on that, I promise!

What's up.... What a night last night. Smallville was great and the interview after was really fun. Thanks to Kenn, Jim and Jen for having me on the show...
It's good Friday, and therefore a holiday, so I'm just heading out for a walk around the Vancouver sea wall. It's a beautiful day-perfect for saying hello to the ocean...I'm back in Los Angeles next week so I want to get as much Vancouver nature as possible...have a great day everyone!
Worlds Worst Blogger (ME!)

Okay, I am officially the worst blogger ever! Sorry such huge gaps between blogs but damn, things have been busy! Half way through our week in Alberta (filming Screamers 2) half our cast and crew got really sick! It was really, really cold over there and it just took us all out! So we had a little recovery time and have just finished up. The movie looks great and it was SO much fun! All of us became so close during this film. It was the most professional, kind, talented group of people. We had a great shoot...behind the scenes footage is gonna be pretty funny-especially the outdoors stuff. We all took good tumbles out there in the snow! So funny...anyway, once more photos are cleared, I'll post them!
Now I'm back in Vancouver... Okay, I'm off to meetings...don't forget to watch 'Smallville' tomorrow! If you're part of my mail list- you will receive a special reminder...so join!

So it's been a fun, but wild week travelling around Canada! Left St Johns after shooting all night and going right the airport to make my way back to Vancouver for auditions and other business that needed to be taken care of...then hopped a plane to calgary to see friend before starting a week of filming in Brooks AB. So now I'm exhausted and thank goodness we have to day off to rest and recharge.

Tomorrow I urge people to wear pink in support of Anti Bully Day in BC -and all across Canada. I've attached a link that talks about how this got started and what you can do to help! No matter who you are you can make a difference! So please wear pink tomorrow and help put a stop to bullying now...
The episode I did for Smallville will be airing on March 20 on CW! Very excited, watch for me as Patricia Swann it should be a good one...

Woke up to bright beautiful skies this morning. It's a nice change from the very winter conditions we've been experiencing the last couple of weeks...we had our first day int the studio yesterday and it was funny to go from everyone freezing cold with 5 layers on to really hot inside. We all went abit loopy! But man, our set looks incredible. Still waiting on photo approval from Sony so I can post some set pictures.

Moved into the studio today. great set..huge set....can't say what it is yet...but it's cool. Also starting press today. love talking about the project , characters, cast etc....makes it all start to feel real.

So we finally got off the island! But it wasn't until really late, and it was a scketchy ride...all and all it was an amazing adventure and we are all laughing about it today...
As fun as it was, we are all happy the storm as passed as a bunch of us have family flying in tonight. I'm bringing my mom out for a few days so that's gonna be fun. It's great to have friends /family visit while shooting on location. It just breaks up the trip a little and it's always wonderful to show people what you do. I work so much that I hardly ever see anyone! So I like to at least bring people to set so they get an idea why I'm not around!

Ok so. We have been filming on bell island for the past 4 days. We have to take a ferry every morning...so far the weather has cooperated. Today, not so much. Web are now stuck on this crazy slab of land with no where to go! So we are all held up in the one pub/ restaurant/grocery store until the winds die down. The salt cod fish bits are on the way.....my co star Stephen is drinking 'Black Horse' but the producer bought the round so we are all good. I'm having a diet C-Plus just in case we do go out, and have to shoot tomorrow....someone has to drive the boat!! I'll update as we go...if we go!
UPDATE
Definitely not going anywhere. The storm has only gotten worse. Dick's on Bell Island is now servicing the entire cast and crew of Screamers 2...yikes...

Back to work today-we are on bell island 610 feet under the ground in a mine...a lot of cool locations on this film for sure. We took a 20 min ferry ride to get over here. For me the ocean is where I find inspiration and draw strength so it was amazing to start off the day on the Atlantic. It was very adventurous....over the weekend I picked up the new Mary J Blige album. 'Work that' is my new favorite song for sure. I'm listening to it over and over.
300 Year Old Mine

Another day on the set of 'Screamers 2'. We shooting deep in a 300 year old mine today. Very wet and cold. We've got the entire cast filming a huge fight scene that will take up the entire day. When we shoot big scenes like this, it's broken up into tiny bits and pieces. So on the call sheet it looks like an easy day cause just one scene, when in reality it takes anywhere between 10 to 15 hours...still waiting to get clearance on the photos, then I will post them!
Some of the other cast on the shoot include Lance Hendrickson (Osrso), Greg Bryk (Sexton), Stephen Amell (Guy), Holly O'Brien (Hanna),Tim Rozon (Madden)and Jana Pallaske (Schwartz) SO,SO,SO lucky to be working with such professional, positive hard working people.
Hey did mention how great Smallville was?? Look for my episode...should be airing soon...(I'll also try to find out some dates and post them)
Blood and Gore on Set!

On set right now-lot's of blood and gore today....my favorite!! We have been doing some great combat scenes and lot's of action all around. We are in this old smelling building. It has a ton of character and is super creepy. I love filming in places like this because it's so real. The smells and sounds always add tension to the scenes...

So busy-haven't had time to write since starting Screamers 2...it has been so fun. For fellow 'Aliens' fans, you will be thrilled to hear that Lance Hendrickson is one of the leads in the film. We've been hanging out, working on the script and sharing stories. Well really I'm just picking his brain!! He's so interesting and an amazing actor...learning a lot from him. We are only on day 2, but we are all feeling at home and shooting great stuff. Oh, and laughing a lot....no drama, no egos, just amazing people..
What else can I tell you...oh! I will attach some photos in the next couple of days...

Great day today...row 17 at the Lakers game...Kanye West was in the first row-pretty crazy cause he's my favorite artist-it was really, really fun...
Evening was spent having dinner at 'Koi' and the onto 'Hyde' where tons of celebrities were out having drinks to celebrate the Golden Globes....even Paris Hilton came in....it was cool to see her. Back in Van now to do ADR for 'Flash Gordon' and pack up to head out east and start shooting "Screamers 2". So,so busy but I am stoked to get started on the film. There are some pretty great people attached to this project so I am thrilled to get going...

Lakers and Burgers

It's a beautiful California day...Off to grab coffee and breakfast then hit the gym-then work on my script for a couple of hours. I love studying here-so quiet and the weather is beautiful....
Grabbing tickets for the 'Lakers' game on Sunday...that's gonna be FUN!! I will take some photos and try and figure out how to get them posted on my blog.

I'm still not used to this whole blog thing. I'm not a great writer. The only writing I've done were papers in college. And as all you students out there know, they are very structured....so I'm still getting used to just writing down whatever I want, however I want, without a beginning, middle and end!! Bare with me.
So I'm in LA and although I should be working and training in the gym to get ready for my next role, I can't seem to focus! I'm consumed with simply driving around, going to my favorite shops and hitting 'In and Out' burger at least once a day! It's all good, just a little out of character for me cause I'm such a workaholic! I guess I never really took time off over the holidays though so somehow, it's seems appropriate to just chill for a few days. Also it's been raining a lot here, and that sort of keeps everything on the down low....anyway....I'll get better at these blog entries I promise...

So I've been in my trailer for almost FIVE hours!!! Yes-i have a big tv in here, books etc...but when you are as hyper active as I am-it's really hard to stay put for so long!! I'm finally heading up to set (on Traveling) and I am very excited....! Well that could also be the two diet Pepsi's I just pounded....wow...it's gonna be a late night....!
